Best Girls Trip Destinations Around The World. 30+ Girls Trip Ideas!

With so many places to see, finding the best girls trip destinations around the world can be overwhelming, to say the least. But this guide will make it easy for you to break down some of the girls trip ideas so you and your besties can plan easily.

There is nothing better than escaping for a day, a long weekend, or even a month long jaunt, with your best girl(s). My best friend and I have traveled for several weeks at a time, on multiple trips, and love it.

I hand selected destinations that I genuinely love and think you and your ladies will too. The world is very large and trying to pick one place against them all can be tricky. So I hope this guide serves to help you in narrowing down possibilities.

Before I plan a girls trip, I sit down with my friends and ask these questions:

What budget do we want to stay within?

What are we looking to get out of the trip? Total relaxation? Non stop partying? Adventure? Foodie destinations? Cruise?

How long can we be gone for?

Does everyone have a passport?

When is everyone available?

Knowing the answers to these five questions will help you in nearly every area of planning. For example, if everyone is free for a long weekend in March and wants to party at the beach, perfect! That happens to be spring break and there will find many of the best girls trip destinations to choose from throughout the Caribbean and Central America.

We have over 30+ girls trip ideas below to help you plan the best girlfriend getaway!

Best Girls Trip Destinations Around the World: Girls Trip Ideas

Below are over 30+ best girls trip destinations for you to plan the most epic girls getaway with your ladies!

1. Iceland

The land of fire and ice! Iceland is one of the best girls trip destinations, so much so, I have been many times and my best girls love it.

What is really great about Iceland is that the country has so much to offer its visitors. If you love being outdoors, seeing waterfalls, visiting hot springs, and truly enjoying the worlds beauty, Iceland is for your trip!

Some of the top things to do in Iceland for your girls trip include: the Blue Lagoon, a Golden Circle Tour, seeing the Northern Lights (when in season), visiting South Iceland to see Black Diamond Beach, Vik and Glacier Lagoon, exploring Reykjavik – there is a lot of great shopping, street art and you can see the best view of the city at the top of Hallgrímskirkja Church, and eat the local foods.

Each trip I have taken to Iceland I have always booked tours with BusTravel Iceland. They pick you up at your hotel or area in Reykjavik and provide an amazingly comfortable coach to take you to whatever area you plan on seeing. The staff is incredibly wonderful and knowledgeable and fun to be around.

Hotels can be expensive in Iceland since the country is rather small. For your girls trip you should consider an Airbnb so you can all stay together for a fractions of the cost. On my last girls getaway to Iceland we stayed in a Penthouse in downtown Reykjavik overlooking the water and walking distance throughout the city. It was the same price as if we had booked two hotels rooms at the time.

The space came with three bedrooms and three and half baths. Each room had two beds and a full bathroom – which is great for hosting 1-2 people each. A full working kitchen, large dining room table, washer and dryer, hot tub and deck, several TV’s, and a tap in the kitchen with sparkling water!

Before you head to Iceland, make sure to check out all these travel tips – as it answers all your questions about visiting.

2. Key West, Florida

Key West, also the furthest point in the continental United States, is like a mini New Orleans, but different. It isn’t as rowdy as Bourbon Street can get and its on the beach. Pub crawls are very popular on Duval Street!

We always say Key West is one of the best girls trip destinations because its an amazing drive from Miami, very walkable, everyone is so friendly, and you can either relax or party. The city is a very chill vibe.

You’ll want to make sure and get stoned crab, frozen key lime pie on a stick and visit Hemingway’s House with the 6 toed cats.

But also make sure to spend some time at Smathers beach, snorkel, parasailing, sunset sailing, or even a day trip to Dry Tortugas National Park

We did a Ghosts and Graveyard Tour on our girls trip and .. well I don’t want to spoil anything, but it is worth doing!!

If you ladies want to stay right on the water, Ocean Key Resort and Spa is a great pick or if you want to stay right in the city (which is not far at all, just a couple blocks), there are plenty of guest houses, Airbnb’s and cottages right in the neighborhoods.

3. Alaskan Cruise

If you and your girls have a week and want to see Alaska without having to put too much thought into planning the trip, a Glacier Bay cruise or Inside Passage cruise is your best bet, and a top Alaska bucket list trip!

Since Alaska is not connected to the continental United States, it seems like it isn’t easy to get to. However, during the Alaska cruise season (May-September) you can take week long cruises that are round trip right out of Seattle, Washington. Bonus: You only have to fly to Seattle and not to Alaska.

Taking an Alaskan cruise is one of the best girls trips ideas if you are after something unique. With cruising your food is included and the hotel is essentially a floating resort with a spa, pool, hot tubs, salon, nightly shows, bars, etc. You can do whatever you want on board and the views are fantastic.

Highly recommend getting a room with a balcony so you can enjoy the scenery and wildlife from your room. We loved drinking wine or champagne and watching the sunset at sea.

Last summer we cruised with both Norwegian and Holland America and the trips were very different. Depending on your interests and ports you want to see, we truly thought the Glacier Bay cruise was the best. We went in July, the weather was around 70 degrees (this is not a guarantee) and had the ultimate Alaska trip experience with wildlife, glaciers and food.

Depending on which cruise you pick for your girls trip, you will find ports and things to do in Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, and more. If you love the outdoors, definitely try and see Mendenhall Glacier, the Misty Fjords, all the wildlife options (bears, bald eagles, whales), and Tracy Arm Fjord.

Cruising through Glacier Bay National Park is AMAZING – highly recommend that route.

Make sure to check out these Alaska cruise tips before booking just to make sure this is a good trip for you and your ladies.

4. Mykonos, Greece

Probably one of the most sought after girls getaways, Mykonos, Greece is the place to be. While the island is rather small (33 square miles) don’t let its size fool you. There are plenty of stunning beaches and things to do with your best girlfriends.

In the last five years Mykonos has become increasingly popular, thanks to a bevy of gorgeous photos on Instagram and travel publications. There are plenty of places to get photos with the girls: Little Venice, Super Paradise Beach, the windmills of Mykonos, and along the white washed buildings with blue trim and cobble stone streets.

One of the most photographed hotels in Mykonos as of late is Cavotagoo and a great destination for your girls trip. Bonus: book a room with a pool.

When dining out, make sure and try a local favorite cheese: kopanisti. It is a popular dish and absolutely delicious.

For partying, check out Katerina’s Bar, Astra, Jackie O, and Super Paradise Beach Club.

5. London, England

One of the best girls trip destinations in the United Kingdom is London! The city is truly thriving with everything you need to have the best girls getaway and bonus, its one of the closest destinations to the United States, across the pond.

Before you plan your trip you should check out this London bucket list to see what you are most interested in seeing. Fair warning, London tends to be busy year round, even in the coldest temperatures, so you will want to book things in advance and plan for lines.

This London 3 day itinerary is great if you want to maximize your visit.

One of the best hotels in London with incredible views is the Shangri-La. Double bonus – you will want to dress up and get afternoon tea at Ting in the hotel.

Food wise, make sure and try fish and chips, bangers and mash, sticky toffee pudding, and crumpets.

best girls trip destinations

6. Maui, Hawaii

Hands down, Maui could be one of the best girls trip destinations!

While the island is small, it is lush with great things to do. Things you should not miss: the Road to Hana, a Luau, taking advantage of the hikes, waterfalls, and all the stunning beaches.

If you ladies love to golf, this would make for a great girls trip as there are several incredible golf courses on the island.

Tip: if you do the Road to Hana, plan to stay in Hana overnight as the drive is about three hours and a bit crazy. You can even stay at one of the most amazing luxury resorts, Travaasa Experiential Hana.  Plus, up in Hana you can see red and black sand beaches, a bamboo forest and a lot of great hiking and beach opportunities.

Make sure and get a plate lunch (rice, mac and an entree), fresh pineapple and shave ice. Thank me later.

Lodging: Grand Wailea is perfection! It is pretty close to the airport too (about 16 miles from Kahului).

7. Marrakech, Morocco

If the girls are looking for something exotic but also city, Marrakech is the best bet. The city will overwhelm your senses in the best way possible.

We did Marrakech in three days and were happy with everything we got to see, do eat, and experience. It was really the perfect amount of time. However, staying longer means being able to slow down a bit and getting to experience more that the city has to offer.

The Medina is the main draw for the city and most things are happening inside those walls. Definitely try and stay in a Riad for half your stay (or longer) in the Medina to get a real feel for local life. You can then split your time up and stay in a hotel or resort away from the hustle and bustle and still enjoy the city without all the madness. Just to be clear – both experiences were amazing.

Recommendations for lodging: Le Riad Yasmine is the most sought after Riad and went viral on Instagram a few years ago. Book in advance as they book up far out. Outside the Medina, the Four Seasons is wonderful. It is set on 40 acres of Moorish Gardens and a real escape. Treat yourself!

Food wise, it is budget friendly in the Old City inside the Medina. Make sure and try mint tea, couscous, crepes, tagine, dates, olives, figs, and breads.

Don’t miss the best places to get photos with your girlfriends: Ben Youssef Madrasa and Explore Majorelle Garden. These are where you get the shot

Check out these tips with all the burning information you will want to know before booking your trip.

8. Bali

Looking for budget spas, flower baths, yoga, beaches, and acai bowls? Bali is going to be the best of the girls trip ideas if you are looking for a far flung exotic destination.

We’ve all heard of Bali and thought about our very own “Eat, Pray, Love” trip, but with our best girls, of course.

What is really great about visiting Bali is that it is affordable. You can rent entire hotel villas or houses will pools and all the trimmings for less than a luxury hotel in the United States (in many cases) and the hospitality is top notch.

Definitely plan to spend some time in the spas. If you leave your resort area and head into any of the cities, you can get one hour massages for less than $7 USD! This is definitely the time to pamper.

best girls trip destinations

9. Aruba

Some would say the best girls trip destinations are in the Caribbean. They are probably right. If you are based in North America, it is relatively easy to access and there are a bevy of islands and options.

Aruba, AKA: One Happy Island, is truly just that. With stretches of white sand beach, crystal clear blue water and fresh seafood that is out of this world.

One of the big draws in recent years for Aruba has been Flamingo Beach. If you stay at the Renaissance, you can go for free, Otherwise you need to get up super early and buy a day pass. Pro tip: go super early so you can get your photos with the flamingos before everyone else arrives.

My go to hotel in Aruba is the Ritz-Carlton. The hotel is absolutely beautiful sitting on a large strand of white sand beach, has a casino, and the best cabanas both on the beach and around the pool, for the perfect girls trip!

Depending on your preference, there are also some all-inclusive hotels to choose from if you don’t want to have to think about cost of food and drinks constantly. Barcelo Aruba and Hotel Riu Palace are the best.

One place you should not miss on the island to eat is the lobby bar at the Ritz-Carlton. They have sushi available and the Ritz-Carlton roll is hands down the best thing you will eat on the island. PROMISE!

10. New York, New York

Shop til you drop, a delicious food scene, museums,  and Broadway? That’s the vibe of one of the best girls trip destinations.

While the city can be pricey, there is still a lot of free things to do in New York, Including the Staten Island Ferry – you could ride it all day if you wanted to (but I recommend seeing more that the city has to offer).

Some restaurants that you should not miss are Le Bernardin, the three Michelin Star restaurant by Eric Ripert (make sure and get reservations well in advance) and check out The Vine for breakfast, with a cold pressed juice and Challah french toast.

Hotel wise, check out the Mandarin Oriental (for a splurge) as it has the fluffiest bathrobes and softest sheets PLUS the best view of Columbus Circle from the top of the Aviary.

Make sure to check out this New York City bucket list to help you plan your trip!

11. Oahu, Hawaii

If you are considering something tropical but don’t have passports, Oahu is one of the best girls trip destinations for just that!

Haven taken TWO girls trips to Oahu, plus two solo, I can confirm it is worth the trip.

Before visiting, plan out your Oahu bucket list and see which of the many beaches on the island you want to visit – or you could try and go to them all!

The best hotel right on the beach is the Royal Hawaiian. It sits towards the end of Waikiki Beach and gives amazing sunrise and sunset views plus the hotel is stunning. If you want to stay in the city, the Ritz-Carlton Waikiki is great is because they have the highest infinity edge pools and the rooms are residences, so you get a kitchen and washer and dryer.

For food, your girls trip would not be complete without trying all the foodie spots in Oahu. Highly recommend custard malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery, shave ice, shrimp plat from Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck, and dole whip from the Pineapple Plantation

Don’t forget to check out these tips before planning your trip!

best girls trip destinations

12. Panama Canal Cruise

The cruises through the Panama Canal can go upwards of two weeks and are great if you have plenty of time and an interest in seeing Central America and sometimes they stop in South America and the Caribbean.

Norwegian has great Panama Canal cruises and these are only offered for a small part of the year (late winter/early spring), so the weather is fantastic, but can also get hot.

We did a two week cruise for our girls trip and had the best time! We went to several countries in Central America and Colombia once we cross through the Panama Canal. This is a great option if your girls trip wants beaches, booze, nightly entertainment on board, awesome excursions in ports, and unforgettable memories.

Food and lodging is included in the price of the cruise. You can each purchase drink packages on board if you plan to drink a lot and you can get unlimited WiFi to stay connected (if you want to document your trip).

Highly recommend getting a balcony stateroom so you can enjoy the Panama Canal from your room since it is an entire day excursion on board.

Excursions not to miss: El Arco by boat in Cabo San Lucas, Tarzan’s House in Puerto Vallarta, visit Granada in Nicaragua, and take the Chiva Party Bus in Cartagena!!

13. Cappadocia, Turkey

One simply can’t escape Instagram without seeing gorgeous shots of Cappadocia

If your girls trip is looking for a completely different experience away from the beach and into a magical land, then this is it, this is the only girls trip destination you need. A lot of people tack Cappadocia on to their trips after visiting other beautiful destinations in Turkey. Cappadocia is really easy to get to from Istanbul as well.

The two things that your girls getaway needs in Cappadocia is to 1. stay in a cave hotel and 2. take a hot air balloon over the fairy chimneys. If you have that, your trip will be absolutely complete.

If you stay with Sultan Cave Suites, you can arrange a breakfast on the rooftop during the sunrise and balloons – makes for great photo opportunities.

14. Mackinac Island, Michigan

When it comes to old school charm, being on an island that is just about eight mikes around and no cars allowed, Mackinac Island is SURE to be one of the most unforgettable and best girls trip destinations you could plan.

Lake Huron around the island of Mackinac is crystal clear like the Caribbean, which could trick you into thinking you are elsewhere. However, there is not a lot of swimming opportunities on this island. There are water sports like sailing, parasailing, kayaking, and so on.

The island offers a bevy of bars, dining, boutique shops, fudge shops, and interesting activities. Be sure to check this Mackinac Island bucket list before you start planning your trip as there are many things to do on this girls trip.

When it comes to where to stay on the island, there are two main resorts on each side: Grand Hotel and Mission Point Resort, hotels in the main part of town and a lot of bed and breakfasts to choose from. You will need to decide if you want to be right downtown where everything is happening or a few minutes walk or carriage ride away to one of the big resorts (with all the amenities).

Even though you need to take a ferry to get to the island, two of the best activities on the island are the Carriage Tour and renting your own bikes to circle the island or explore the inside.

One of the most beloved girl getaway activities is the bar crawl. You can find shirts in the downtown area that have all the bars on the island. Make sure and get a taxi (horse and buggy) to get you to some of the bars to be safe.

Food you MUST have on the island: pecan ball from The Woods, lunch buffet at the Grand Hotel, whitefish dip from anyone, whitefish oscar from the Jockey Club, and try ALL THE FUDGE.

*The island is fully open seasonally (May-Octoberish) so you will need to do some advance planning.

best girls trip getaways

15. Cuba

The elusive Cuba. Once cut off from all Americans, now easier to access. There is still a process to go, but it is not forbidden.

Our girls getaway to Cuba was on a cruise, which is no longer available but you can still visit with limited flights from America. You and the ladies will need to have valid passports, get visas with proper declaration of travel, health insurance is required, and some advance planning. You will want to check with the state department if you are a United states citizen for any updates.

Havana is like stepping back in time. While nothing has been updated, the city is still incredibly gorgeous. You will see old convertibles driving around in robust colors and mojito stands everywhere. I encourage you to embrace the culture and somewhat disconnection from the rest of the world. AKA WiFi isn’t readily available the way it is in the USA.

One of Cuba’s most stunning destinations are their beaches. Because they are located in the Caribbean, they are surrounded by lush blue water and sandy beaches.

Cuba can offer both the beachy destination and the city. I recommend visiting Havana (as there is a lot to do there) and then visiting one of the beaches and/or countryside for a change of pace.

The nightlife in Havana is bountiful and you will find no shortage of bars and clubs that are open to the wee hours of the morning.

Make sure and try tamales, churros, frita, and Lechon asado!! These items are widely available.

If you are coming from America, there are restrictions on which hotels you can stay in, so check first. A lot of visitors stay in casa particulars, which are like Airbnb with locals.

16. New Orleans, Louisiana

We could not write this guide about best girls trip destinations and leave out the Big Easy!

New Orleans is in a class of its own when it comes to girls getaways. Planning a trip here can be as easy as you make it.

If you ladies are looking to go all out and party hard, plan to go during Mardi Gras! There is no party like Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. Pack all your colorful clothes and plan to get down. The parades and parties can get rowdy, but that is what it is all about.

For food, don’t miss Willie Mae’s fried chicken, beignets at Cafe du Monde, Delmonico for dinner or brunch (both are spectacular) and Blue Oak BBQ for some of the best BBQ in town.

When we were in town twice, we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton (once during Mardi Gras and once during Christmas). It is centrally located in the French Quarter and easy to walk to most things. If you want a room with a balcony during Mardi Gras, Royal Sonesta is a great option and they have a courtyard pool as well.

Frenchman Street is bustling with jazz music and bars. Outside of Bourbon Street, this is where you want to be.

best girls trip destinations

17. Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe is where you take your girls getaway when you want to do some serious shopping, eat incredible food and do things like go on a margarita trail!

I cannot tell you enough how incredible the food is in Santa Fe. Tacos, moles, breakfast burritos, peppers, oh my.

If your ladies trip involves some luxury digs and pampering, the Four Seasons is a fantastic pick! Located in Sangre de Cristo foothills and just minutes from the downtown area, the hotel has incredible dining and the best sunset views in the city.

If you want to stay in town, consider La Fonda on the Plaza. It is right in the heart of town and walk-able to everything. You can get to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Shiprock Santa Fe for beautiful shopping and tons of restaurants and boutiques.

One place you cannot miss in Santa Fe is Meow Wolf! It’s hard to explain, but you will need a couple hours to fully immerse yourself in this artist experience. Essentially, it is a fun house for all ages. A non-linear story is being told and you go through all these rooms and try and figure out what happened. It is one of the best things to do in the city. We could not get enough.

Food musts: Tia’s Sophia’s for a smothered breakfast burrito, Sazon Restaurant for an incredible tasting menu, Kakawa Chocolate House for a variety of chocolates that will challenge your taste buds, and La Posada de Santa Fe for tacos, margaritas and roasted peppers!

18. European River Cruise

One of the best girls trips I have ever taken was a two week Viking Grand European Tour from Budapest to Amsterdam. Viking River Cruises are truly an incredible way to see cities in Europe off the river and a great way to dig deeper into the history of each destination with walking tours and guides.

One of the best parts about doing this cruise (or any of the river cruises with Viking) is that they include all your meals, a complimentary tour in each stop (that is already picked), wine and beer with lunch and dinner, all meals, and WiFi!

This is going to be a pricier trip and going to take some planning if you do take a two week cruise. But alas, there are plenty of cruises that are a week or less as well.

Tip: look out for the deals that are buy one get one 50% off or include airfare. You could also contact a travel agent who has access to great deals.

19. Barbados

With over 80 beaches on pristine sand and stunning water, Barbados should top your list of girls trip destinations!

This might sound a little strange – but if you and the girls are just looking to get away and bond together, no boys allowed style, highly recommend Sandals Royal Barbados. Sandals is a couples resort, but some people who stay there are just friends or relatives. I know this through personal experience at several of their resorts. Just make sure you go in groups of two to share the room.

ALL food and beverages are included, activities on the grounds and this property shares with the neighbor property so you have access to 18 global restaurants across both properties, and hint: they are incredible!! CHI Asian Fusion is our absolute favorite.

You ladies can hit the beaches, take tours outside of the resort, day drink if you want, try the spa on site (it is very nice), and just have a worry free girls trip!

This property is an all suite property – highly recommend the SkyPool Butler Suite or the swim out rooms. Another bonus: get a room with a butler and they will bring you whatever you want from any restaurant or even drinks on the beach!

20. Cayman Cookout, Grand Cayman

For the girls who LOVE to eat and be surrounded by the best chefs in the world, the Cayman Cookout is THE best girls trip destinations for this style of travel.

Each year during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, the Cayman Cookout is held at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman. Pretty much all the events are on site with the exception of a few big ones, like the Beach BBQ. When you book your trip, you will want to plan ahead as each event requires a ticket and a lot of them sell out. You should also stay at the Ritz so you can easily access things all day and use the beach in between.

Some of the best events you should attend are: Ole Jose – which is his yearly paella cook off. Jose Andres makes a grand entrance each year and it is the highlight for many.

Another great event is the caviar tasting lunch with Paramount Caviar. They do such a fantastic job with the food!

The Barefoot BBQ is a great event at night out on the beach (away from the hotel). Food and drinks are flowing with dancing and good times. Al Roker’s Beach Bash is also another great event and it stops at Stingray City on the way!!

21. Bora Bora

While Bora Bora seems like it is geared more towards a lovers paradise, it really is for everyone! When it comes to girls trip ideas, make sure to keep this one on the table.

Bora Bora can be very expensive, so make sure before planning this girls trip you check with everyone’s budget. You can also look for airfare deals, cash in credit card rewards and miles and check resorts for deals they may be running.

Note: airfare from Tahiti to Bora Bora is very expensive and the water taxi from the airport to hotel is also very expensive. Even though both of those trips are very short, you are looking at $300+ per person for each.

If money is no question, you must rent the only two story penthouse in Bora Bora. Located at the Conrad and it sits at the end of the jetty with perfect views of sunrise and sunset. There will be plenty of room and common areas, a pool and easy access to the ocean and tanning deck. Another great option would be one of the residences at the Four Seasons.

Before booking anything, you should check to see when the best time to visit Bora Bora is. You can save money by going during off season or in shoulder seasons.

Because the big resorts are located on their own Motu (island), you don’t really have access to the other hotels. Most of the resorts offer a daily shuttle for a fee to the main town of Vaitape. The St. James and the Bora Bora Yacht Club ARE the best!

At your hotel – the best food to try is poisson cru. It is a Tahitian raw fish and insanely delicious. It would be a disservice if I didn’t tell you.

22. Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles can be many things for a girls trip. From shopping trips, beach days, fancy dining, bars and clubs for live music and dancing, and celebrity spotting.

The only place we would recommend in Los Angeles to stay at is the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Rodeo Drive. It may be one of the best hotels in the city but it also gives you access to Rodeo Drive shopping, incredible restaurants and the house car, which was a ROLLS ROYCE when I stayed there.

If you are a movie fan, Pretty Woman did their exterior shooting here and created a movie set for the inside, but still special!

There is no shortage of great restaurants in the city. Some of our favorites are: The Polo Lounge – go for dinner and make sure to get the souffle (it was the most delicious thing ever), CUT for wagyu beef, and breakfast in bed at the Beverley Wilshire.

Things you must do in LA: See the Hollywood sign, if you like outdoors: hike Runyon Canyon, shop Rodeo Drive, see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and if you feel up to it – take a tour of celebrities homes.

23. Paris, France

We would be lying if we left Paris off the best girls trip destinations list!

Paris is one of the best girls getaways in the entire world full of shopping, beautiful balcony hotels, macarons, stunning architecture, museums, and endless places to get the best photos of the city!

There is truly so many great hotels in Paris, but if you want to stay in some of the most Instagrammable ones with iconic shots: Shangri-La and Le Metropolitan are the two best!

When it comes to things to do in Paris, you should definitely check out the Eiffel Tower, take a cruise on the Seine River, visit the Palace of Versailles (skip the line ticket or wait hours to get in), the Monmartre neighborhood, Tuileries Garden, Louvre Museum (make sure to get this fast track entrance ticket to avoid lines), Moulin Rouge, and walk all the beautiful streets!

Another easy way to get around and see all the main sights is with a hop on hop off ticket for the city,

Best Girls Weekend Getaways: The Best Places For a Girls Weekend

When you are planning and looking for the best girls weekend getaways, you will want to take into consideration the type of trip everyone is after and budget. Because this will be a short trip, everyone will need to be on the same page about what you want to do.

These are the best places for a girls weekend:

1. Las Vegas, Nevada

Sin City – and it didn’t the name for no reason! If you are longing for a weekend of drinking, gambling, seeing shows and concerts, hitting the pools (in the summer), and eating at some of the wildest buffets and celebrity owned restaurants, then this is the best girls trip destinations for that.

The nice thing about Las Vegas is that you can plan the best girls weekend getaways on nearly any budget. Did you know there is over 100 FREE things to do in Las Vegas or that you can score penthouse suites usually pretty cheap ($400ish)?

If you plan to go in the summer, stay at a hotel like The Cosmopolitan as they have amazing pools, dive in pool movies and they are centrally located on the strip. The Waldorf Astoria (formerly the Mandarin Oriental) also is a great pick right on the strip and they do not have a casino, which is nice.

For something a bit more budget friendly and where you can all stay together, check out Tahiti Village. You can get a two bedroom condo with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, full kitchen, washer and dryer, and it is past the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, but they offer a shuttle to the strip, grocery store and Red Rock Canyon. They also have a lazy river and no casino on property.

Things your girls getaway should not miss: getting photos at the “Welcome to Las Vegas Sign”, riding the High Roller with the open bar package, seeing the lights at the fountain of the Bellagio, and a trip to Hakkasan – the best club in the city. Don’t forget to check out the best shopping malls in Las Vegas while you are at it.

2. Mexico

The beauty of Mexico is that there are several destinations that could make for the best girls weekend getaways! So many of the destinations in Mexico offer all-inclusive hotels, so you and your girls can book your hotel and airfare together to save money and then not have to worry about food and drinks unless you leave your hotel.

Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cabo San Lucas, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, and Cozumel – all offer a bevy of all-inclusive properties, and they are nice! Make sure to do some research and read reviews because there tends to be a lot of them. Also, make sure and stay in one with a swim-up bar!!

Tulum and Isla Holbox have grown popular in recent years and have plastered the pages of Instagram and travel guides. If you are looking for Insta-worthy shots, these are the two most popular of the best girls trip destinations in mexico.

If you want a more upscale, non-inclusive hotel, Ritz-Carlton in Cancun is superb!

Note: Visiting these destinations from February-April is high season for spring breakers.

3. Charlottesville, Virginia

If you want to visit wine country but also want to stay on the east coast, Charlottesville, Virginia is great for one the best girls weekend getaways. Think of it as like a mini Napa! There is about 30 wineries within the 25 mile radius of the city, but always check back as you never know when a new one will pop up.

Tucked along the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville is sort of remote, but they also have their own airport, so getting there will be relatively easy.

Whether you want to spend a weekend or a week exploring Charlottesville wineries, it can be done. We have visited the city for half a day, 36 hours and up to a week. It is going to depend on what you want to get out of your girls trip and if you want to see more than the wineries in the city proper.

Hotel wise, The Clifton is fantastic! It is not right downtown but it is a cute boutique property with a variety of lodging options. You could rent out a cottage, stay in the Manor House or even rent out the Farmhouse. Your stay does come with an included breakfast – and pro tip: don’t skip it! The food is fantastic.

Some of our favorite wineries in the area include: Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards (recommended to stay for a couple hours and do the Vintner’s Table), Early Mountain Vineyards (they also have incredible food), King Family Vineyards, and Jefferson Vineyards

For an interesting dinner experience, try Red Pump Kitchen and get the tasting menu. The menu changes often, so check with the restaurant and make sure to get a reservation in advance.

Pro tip: for your girls weekend getaway, plan to get a wine tour coach to drive you around. I promise you, this is the best thing you will purchase on your trip. Having the peace of mind to be ale to have a great trip and get from one winery to another is worth its weight in gold.

4. Orlando, Florida

Are you and the girls feeling like you want to bring out your inner kid? Let Orlando treat you! Known as the theme park capital of the world and it does not disappoint!

If you ladies are ready to laugh like you are 15 again, take amazing photos, ride the rides, eat the delicious foods, and see the amazing fireworks at Disney at night – then Orlando is one of the best girls trip destinations!

Disney has six parks: Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon.

We LOVE Epcot because it is a great way to see destinations around the world in a day. Animal Kingdom is awesome if you love animals – and you can go on a safari! Magic Kingdom is just that – MAGIC. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are water parks and great for when it is hot out.

Food at Disney: not all the parks serve the same things, so you may want to plan ahead. I highly recommend the dole whip! If you want to take it up a notch, try brunch at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs for a dole whip MIMOSA!

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are two separate parks but right next door with the City Walk connecting them. If you love Harry Potter, visiting is a MUST. Both of these parks have Harry Potter parks in them and they connect by the Hogwarts Express. Pro Tip: you will need a park hopper pass or tickets for both parks to ride between the two.

There are a lot of great hotel options in Orlando and it will depend largely on what you are after. If you want to stay close to Disney and have transportation taken care of (which is highly recommended), you should book through Disney and stay in one of their hotels. You can also get a dining package, which makes the trip even easier.

If you want a little bit more luxury and away from the hustle of it all, the Ritz-Carlton Orlando is perfect. The hotel offers over 20,000+ square feet of spa, great pools and delicious food.

5. Scottsdale, Arizona

Located just outside of Phoenix and lush with epic views of Camelback Mountain and stunning resorts. Scottsdale is going to be the best girls weekend getaways for you ladies!

If your girls trip includes hiking, amazing spas, luxury hotels, fantastic food, and not being overly crowded, then Scottsdale it is.

In the summer you can visit Scottsdale and stay at some of the best luxury hotels for ext to nothing (think $149 a night at the FOUR SEASONS) and still get the same great service! That is how you know this is the best girls trip destinations in Arizona.

Highly recommend checking out the Four Seasons, Mountain Shadows Resort, Hermosa Inn, Canyon Suites, or even the Hyatt Andaz. All of these properties are absolutely stunning and relaxing. The bars and restaurants on site are also amazing.

For a quirky stay, I recommend checking out Hotel Valley Ho. It used to be a motel and was converted into this urban resort that is bursting with color. Another interesting property is the Scott Hotel. The inside looks just like an Anthropologie catalog and every corner is a photo opportunity.

Brunch or dinner at Lon’s at Hermosa Inn is an absolute must!! Our favorite stop for every visit is outside of town in Mesa, called Jalapeno Bucks. Make sure and get the PB&J brisket sandwich, thank me later!!

6. Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. is easily one of the best girls weekend getaways. So much of the city is FREE

DC is the Nations Capital and shines in the foodie scene, nightlife options, sporting arenas, museums, and cultural activities. There is always something going on ans plenty to do.

If you and your girls want to do more of a sightseeing and learning trip, Washington, D.C. is going to be it. All of the Smithsonian Museums, Monuments and Memorials are free to the public. You could base your trip around only seeing these things and never pay a cent to see any of them.

Currently DC has about a dozen Michelin rated restaurants in the city! We love Masseria, which is Italian food, by Chef Nick Steffaneli. You must eat here if this is the only Michelin restaurant you can try. Book in advance though as it can be hard to get a table.

For the best rooftops for drinking, check out: Officiana, POV Rooftop Terrace and Whiskey Charlie. There are also a lot of other things to do in DC at night – like seeing the monuments by moonlight!

Make sure to check when the best time to visit DC is for your girls trip – but we highly suggest trying to visit in the spring during cherry blossom season. It is truly beautiful!

7. Miami, Florida

When it comes to the best girls trip destinations, Miami should definitely be in the top 10!

More times than not, Miami has been one of the best girls weekend getaways and will forever be a go to. Offering 35 miles of beach front to its guests and relatively good weather year round, this is a no brainer for a quick girls getaway.

The girls will love hitting any of the beaches, visiting the Wynwood Walls for some epic photos with the murals, getting Cuban food, shopping all the boutiques, and coming home with a tan.

Two hotels you should not miss are Circa 39 and if you want to stay right outside of Miami away from the hustle and bustle, highly recommend the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne

If you really want a lavish an unparalleled experience, stay at the Versace Mansion, now known as The Villa Casa Casuarina! It is absolutely stunning and comes packed with a lot of history.

Don’t miss the beef welington at the Surf Club Restaurant or the warm buffalo salad at Le Sirenuse Restaurant & Champagne Bar.
