You’ll soon see why the town of Paradise Valley lives up to its name after enjoying your stay at the intimate, luxurious Hermosa Inn. Located just outside the Scottsdale city limits, this unique property offers just 43 Hacienda-style guestrooms and casitas, granting guests a high level of individualized attention and welcomed familiarity among the staff. From the moment you step on the property you will be blown away by how stunning it is and the attention to detail is impeccable.
Artist Lon Megargee founded the property in the 1930s as a private getaway residence; only since ownership changed hands several times over has the structure been transformed into what is today an impressive getaway for travelers.
The owners have sought to maintain Lon’s presence through his artwork depicted on the walls, as well as a bountiful garden filled with vivid flora and fauna on the property. The revered artist is also the namesake for the property’s on-site restaurant and cocktail bar.
The design style is truly Southwestern, with bold prints and upholstery evoking Arizona and Native American heritage, as well as wild animal illustrations, intricate tiled fireplaces, and plenty of rich hardwood finishes throughout. Vibrant flowers paint bright colors throughout the exterior as you find your way through the garden, while strong leather tones bring in warmth, masculinity, texture, and distinctive Southwestern style. The property recently received an extensive remodel, ensuring all of the comforts and technologies you cherish at home will be accessible, yet the Inn still preserves its historic charm.
You’ll find cozy fireplaces, intimate patios, and high vaulted ceilings add to the experience you’ll relish in your guestroom. Select between the luxurious Grande Casita, spacious Deluxe Casita, cozy Garden Casita, or standard Rancho when booking your stay. There are also combined room options for you to customize your own expansive suite or private, spacious residence.
Looking to dine in? LON’s offers in-room dining for three meals a day and does not disappoint! We opted to do breakfast in and slowly get ready for the day. Highlights from breakfast included: huevos rancheros, homemade granola, an outstanding fruit platter, omelette, and breads. Don’t forget to order a pot of coffee!
The acclaimed LON’s at the Hermosa Inn brings the best in Arizona products with eclectic global influences to a well-appointed dining room with top-notch hospitality. Native Arizonian Chef Jeremy Pacheco brings the locally sourced items front and center to each menu at LON’s. Start your meal with bottled cocktails that local flavors (even herbs from the property’s garden) such as The Stetson with El Silencio mezcal, curacao, lime juice, prickly pear, and agave nectar.
You’ll find options that please every appetite, with a particular nod to Arizona flavors. Classic Tortilla Soup with pulled chicken is a noteworthy starter, as is the Lobster Tempura with aji amarillo aioli. Select from rich Beef Short Ribs with a goat cheese polenta cake, savory Steelhead Trout and Sonoran wheat berries with roasted squash, and wood fired 20 oz. Prime Bone-in Ribeye, among many entrees. Save room for Schnepf’s Farms fresh peaches, served with puff pastry and vanilla crème fraiche with honey gelato for a seasonal, memorable dessert or opt for fan favorites: lon’s signature candy bar or the churro tree!
If you are in town or at Hermosa Inn on the weekend, do not miss brunch! I would be doing you a disservice by not telling you how incredible the brunch menu is. Make sure and get the sizzling bacon and monkey bread to start, you won’t regret either of these incredible dishes.
For the main courses at brunch we tried the short rib hash which was insanely delicious and went with one of our favorites: avocado toast! Everything was so good and a perfect start to the day.
Craving a memorable, romantic experience during your stay? Enjoy your dinner by one of the cozy fireplaces, or enhance the experience by booking the private Wine Cellar for a candlelit meal, complete with rustic reclaimed beams and an authentic trestle table. The Wine Cellar has received notoriety from Wine Spectator magazine since 1996, housing nearly 700 labels from American vineyards and Old World vintages. The expert sommelier will ensure the wine selected extraordinarily compliments your meal. The restaurant even offers revered special harvest dinners by the season, winemaker events, and an annual champagne evening, among other special events.
Enjoy your favorite beverage, happy hour, light bites, and much more at LON’s Last Drop cocktail lounge. LON’s is open daily for breakfast and dinner service, serves lunch weekdays and brunch on weekends.
You’ll find a variety of ways to spend your time in Arizona. Borrow a bicycle cruiser to take your own tour around the town’s shops, restaurants, neighborhoods, hiking trails, and more. Take in a restorative massage or facial at the Blue Door Spa Suite, housed in one of the property’s original buildings. Participate in a hike at Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak, with incredible views of the Arizona skyline and natural features.
Heromsa Inn has a pool on site and cabanas for rental for guests. Since the area has a warmer dry climate year round, its a perfect way to cool down.
And while you are poolside, there is a fantastic drink and food menu to choose from! Make sure and get an “adult”capri sun. The watermelon was fantastic!
