Luxury Honeymoon destinations in Asia are bountiful. The continent offers dramatic scenery, its bursting with history and the hospitality is top notch. Since Asia is so large and diverse, I broke down categories by country, and I couldn’t cover them all, so I just picked a handful of top rated places. It would take me a lifetime to visit every place, so I enlisted the help of other travel writers for their top picks.
Luxury Honeymoon Destinations In Asia: Maldives
Kandolhu Island Resort
Kandolhu Island Resort is a 5 star luxury resort located on a small island in the Maldives. Maldives is a dream for many looking at honeymoon destinations in Asia, and Kandolhu has everything made of dreams. At this island, you get the feeling of being isolated on an island in the middle of nowhere, but still having all luxury one could imagine.
The overwater bungalow villas comes with a pool, your own staircase to the ocean, as well as a bathtub with a view. You will have your privacy, and can go snorkel outside your villa or the nearby house reef. There are also two storey beach houses with private pool available.
Kandolhu is a very small island, and in fact, you can walk across it in less than 10 minutes. But the island has a large variety of restaurants and bars (5 to be exact) as well as various activities. The restaurants serves high-quality food, and each restaurant has its own food theme.
What I really loved about this luxury resort was how genuine and friendly the staff were. Most Maldives resorts have friendly staff, but this was on another level. Kandolhu Island Resort has everything one could wish for from a honeymoon trip with your loved one.

Luxury Honeymoon Destinations In Asia: Indonesia
Pulo Cinta
Nihi Sumba was chosen as the best hotel in the world by Travel+Leisure two years running and it is one of the most impressive and romantic hotels there are. Making honeymoon destinations in Asia easy to choose! The resort is located in Sumba Island, about 90min flight from Bali, and is one of the few accommodations on this largely wild part of Indonesia.
Building on a pilgrimage surf camp in the 80s, Nihi Sumba is today an exclusive and very premium accommodation with unique villas in different sizes spread along the wild ocean and the same famous surf breaks.
The resort is all inclusive and offers many excursions and activities on the island, including diving, snorkeling and jungle exploration to waterfalls and the local villages. Perhaps one of the most incredible features is the destination spa, set in a separate part of the island and reached by horse ride or trek through the rice paddies and jungle. The setting is absolutely breathtaking.
Nihi Sumba also became famous for its beautiful dining setups in various locations across the island and resort and all decorated with the prettiest of bamboo and flower arrangements. They speak of romance and once in a lifetime experiences.
Once In A Lifetime Journey
Viceroy Bali
Source: Viceroy Bali
Situated just a stone’s throw from the well-known town in central Bali, Ubud – the Viceroy Bali couldn’t be in a better location. Being outside of town gives it a quiet, exclusive and super relaxed vibe, but with easy access to the amenities of town, making it a perfect honeymoon spot. If you can manage to tear yourself away from this gorgeous property to visit Ubud, the hotel conveniently provides a complimentary shuttle. If you want quiet seclusion you have it, or if you want to get out and explore Bali, it’s a great location for that as well.
The resort itself is set into a hillside, giving each of the luxurious villas really incredible valley views from their own private infinity pools, a vista that includes lush green palm trees, exotic birds and rice paddy fields, making it one of the top honeymoon destinations in Asia
There is so much to love about this hotel, but one of our favorite aspects was if we grew tired of our private pool and needed a little socialization – the main pool, right next to the restaurant was one of the most beautiful infinity pools we’ve ever encountered.
Hotel Tugu – Bali
Hotel Tugu, located on the beach in Canggu, Bali is one of the most unique properties on the island and offers so much to guests making it one of the most perfect honeymoon destinations in Asia. The owner of Tugu has a vast antique collection and uses the property as a museum of sorts to showcase all of his pieces. From artwork, furniture (each room boasts unique furnishings and no two rooms or suites are alike) to statues – many of the pieces boast small note-cards telling the story of each piece.
Tugu also offers heaps of experiences to make any honeymoon that more special. From a Full Moon Beach BBQ to a Royal Balinese Dinner (where you’re treated as royals!) you can choose which experience speaks to you the most from their “101 Dining Temptations” menu.
One of the most unique things about the property was that breakfast is “whenever you want, wherever you want” (within reason) meaning you can sleep in without worrying about skipping breakfast and you can enjoy it anywhere around the property.
Pay a late afternoon visit to the Waroeng Djamoe Spa (located right on the property) and receive one of their healing, relaxing services and finish up in time to catch a gorgeous Balinese sunset. The property’s location, right on the beach, makes for a perfect place to watch the sun go down!

Royal Hoi An
Hoi An is the perfect place for a honeymoon – a romantic town lined with lanterns that has candlelit boats on the river every night. The pedestrianized old town has been well preserved and the pretty buildings have retained their traditional character making it the perfect place for relaxed strolls.
Just a five-minute walk from the old town is our favorite luxury hotel in Vietnam – the Royal Hoi An. This M Gallery Hotel is incredibly stylish with several top-rated restaurants and an opulent spa. The hotel is designed to convey the love story between Sotaro (a Japanese merchant) and Wakaku (a local Vietnamese aristocrat) who met in Hoi An. There are two separate wings, the first being Sotaro – styled with masculine tones using dark woods, lattice patterns and elements of both Japanese and Vietnamese style. The newest wing is Wakaku, which is styled with a more feminine palette including bright whites, Tiffany blues and rich golds inspired by the kind of furnishings a princess in the 16th Century would have enjoyed.
We highly recommend booking a Deluxe Suite which is the height of luxury and perfection for those looking for honeymoon destinations in Asia. These huge suites offer views of the river, a separate lounge area and a beautiful stand-alone bathtub. It’s a hotel that is so relaxing that you will struggle to muster the energy to leave, especially as the rooftop bar has the best sunset views in town.

Ha Long Bay – Luxury Cruise
If you fancy a touch of luxury, but are a couple who have to always be doing something, look no further than embarking on a five star luxury cruise of the UNESCO world heritage site Ha Long Bay – which is Vietnam’s most famous attraction.
Three day, two night cruises leave Ha Long with Indochina Junk, including a luxury liner with amazing comfortable rooms furnished with authentic Vietnamese décor and spacious bathrooms complete with a bathtub, which you can soak in while watching the spectacular scenery go past.
You’ll get fed like a king and queen on the boat – they offer eight-course meals with traditional Vietnamese fayre (catering for all dietary requirements), as well as a huge selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Massage treatments are available on board.
The activities, however, are what makes a Ha Long Bay cruise a refreshingly different way to spend your honeymoon. You’ll be able to kayak around the scenery with your loved one, take a dip in the ocean and hike to beautiful caves and look out points.
The luxury of the cruise liner makes even visiting Ha Long Bay in winter feasible. It’s certainly one of the unforgettable honeymoon destinations in Asia.

L’Alya Resort at Ninh Van Bay
retrieved from L’Alya Resort
The L’Alya Resort at Ninh Van Bay located off the coast of Nha Trang, Vietnam was the first private villa we stayed as a family however it is definitely more suited as a honeymoon resort. The resort was previously called the An Lam Resort. We were greeted by hotel staff at the airport and then transferred to the Nha Trang pier were a speed boat was waiting. A 20 min ride across the ocean had us arriving at the resorts own pier.
On arrival we were greeted by our butler Hung, that would look after us during our stay. The butler would put the kids to bed for us each night while we enjoyed our dinner together. Our villa was beach front and had a private plunge pool, there were also hillside villas that were built into the mountain and views across the ocean. The hill front villas also had a private plunge pool.
The resort infinity pool was lovely and our butler would check in on us and would organise anything we needed such as special dinner requires, drinks delivered to the pool, mini bar top up or anything you could possibly wish for. It was nice to have someone looking after all your needs. I highly recommend this resort and think any couple looking for honeymoon destinations in Asia would feel very special staying with the team at L’Alya Resort.

If your honeymoon translates into spotting orangutans while indulging in 5-star luxury, look no further. Exquisite Borneo Rain Forest Lodge is continuously listed among the best wildlife lodges in Asia. This lodge is sure to be a top contender for best honeymoon destinations in Asia! It’s the only lodge in Borneo which lies inside the primary rain forest, and it’s your best bet on earth to see truly wild orangutans!
Borneo Rain Forest Lodge lies in the remote Danum Valley Conservation Area. Just 30 villas are scattered along Danum River, which guarantees intimate feel. Deluxe villas have their own Jacuzzi and panoramic views over Danum River.
You can choose daily between morning and evening walks with a naturalist guide, night drives, tubing in Danum River, and visiting the world-famous canopy walkway, which is open exclusively to the guests of the Lodge.
Don’t skip an early morning canopy walk: watch from one of the wooden towers how rising sun chases the morning mist away, and hundreds of birds wake up with you. Our favorite moments in Danum Valley were spent at the terrace, gazing at the rain forest while sipping a sundowner – or enjoying breakfast surrounded by monkeys.
Luxury Honeymoon Destinations In Asia: Seychelles
The first thing you hear when you wake up is the sound of waves crashing into the granite rocks. Le Domaine is an amazing honeymoon destination because it truly makes you feel alone in paradise. There are very few guests for the size of the property and all the villas feel very secluded, nested in the beautiful tropical garden. Finally, the hotel is the most amazing spot on the island to watch the sunset, which lights up the sky and the infinity pool. It’s one of the most magical and romantic spots in the Seychelles.
