Sedona, Arizona: Stay, Dine, Do!

When I first arrived in Sedona, it felt like stepping into another world. The towering red rock formations seemed to glow under the sunlight, their deep hues shifting from fiery orange to soft rose as the day went on.

The air was crisp and carried a faint scent of juniper and sage, and everywhere I turned, there was a sense of tranquility I couldn’t quite put into words. It’s always felt this way.

This place has a kind of magic to it—whether it’s the way the sunlight dances on the rocks, the soothing sound of Oak Creek winding through the canyon, or the wide, open sky that seems to stretch endlessly above.

People here talk about the energy, and honestly, I could feel it too. It’s hard not to, especially when you’re standing in a vortex spot or watching the sunset light up Cathedral Rock like it’s alive.

But Sedona isn’t just about the views. It’s about connection—whether it’s to nature, to art, or to yourself.

The town is filled with galleries showcasing incredible local talent, and there’s no shortage of places to grab a coffee or sit down for a meal that feels as thoughtful as it is delicious.

And then there are the trails—miles and miles of them, inviting you to explore, to breathe, and to just be.

Sedona is a place that invites you to slow down, to look closer, and to let yourself feel something deeper. And once you’ve been here, it’s hard not to carry a little piece of it with you wherever you go.

Sedona: The Ultimate Guide for Visiting

Tips for visiting Sedona

When I visited Sedona, I quickly realized how important it was to plan around the seasons. Spring and fall were my favorite times to go—the weather was perfect, and the scenery was breathtaking with either blooming wildflowers or vibrant fall colors.

Summers, though hot, were still enjoyable in the early mornings or evenings, and winter offered a quieter, magical experience with the occasional dusting of snow on the red rocks.

I learned to start my days early. Trails and popular spots like Cathedral Rock or Devil’s Bridge can get pretty crowded, but heading out just after sunrise gave me the chance to enjoy the peace and cooler temperatures.

Hiking in Sedona was an absolute highlight. There’s something for everyone here, from easy trails like the Bell Rock Pathway to more challenging ones like Cathedral Rock or Bear Mountain.

I made sure to wear proper hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, and check parking availability ahead of time—trailhead lots fill up fast! Very fast!

I also made it a point to pick up a Red Rock Pass. Many of the trailheads and scenic areas require one, and it was easy to grab at visitor centers or vending machines nearby. It was worth it to help preserve the beauty of the area.

Of course, I had to experience the energy vortexes that Sedona is famous for. Whether you believe in the spiritual side of it or not, places like Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Airport Mesa are absolutely stunning.

Standing there, surrounded by that natural beauty, I could see why people find them so inspiring.

Sunsets in Sedona were unforgettable. My favorite spots included Airport Mesa for panoramic views and Red Rock Crossing, where Cathedral Rock’s reflection on Oak Creek was just magical.

I also found Doe Mountain to be a quieter, elevated spot to catch the evening light.

The desert climate surprised me at first, so I quickly learned to carry sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses wherever I went. Packing layers was also a lifesaver since the temperatures could swing dramatically between day and night. Staying hydrated and keeping snacks on hand during longer hikes was a must.

I realized how important it was to book accommodations and activities in advance. Sedona is a popular destination, especially in peak seasons, and planning ahead saved me a lot of hassle.

You’ll want to be respectful of nature. I stuck to marked trails, carried out all my trash, and admired the wildlife from a distance. It felt good to leave the desert as beautiful as I found it.

Before I left, I took time to stargaze. Sedona is a Dark Sky Community, and the night sky was unlike anything I’d ever seen. Lying under the stars, surrounded by the stillness of the desert, was the perfect way to end each day.

Visiting Sedona was truly a magical experience, and every part of it—hiking the trails, soaking in the views, and even just breathing in the fresh air—these memories will stay with me forever.

Getting to Sedona

The easiest way to get to Sedona is flying into Phoenix (PHX), renting a car and making the two hour scenic drive through the winding roads.

I would highly recommend planning around traffic times in Phoenix. I prefer to fly in very early and drive up because Sedona gets busy as well, some times of the year more than others.

If you have a smaller, private plane, Sedona Airport (KSEZ) can likely accommodate your flight in.

Alternatively, you can fly into Las Vegas (LAS) or if you are already visiting there, you can make the five hour scenic drive to Sedona.

Where to dine in Sedona

Mariposa

When I dined at Mariposa in Sedona, it felt like more than just a meal—it was a full sensory experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the restaurant’s modern, upscale design and the floor-to-ceiling open windows that framed the red rock views.

It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting for dinner.

I had made a reservation in advance, and I’m glad I did because this place is incredibly popular. As soon as I was seated, I was in awe of the panoramic views. Watching the sunset paint the red rocks in shades of pink while enjoying a pisco sour was nothing short of magical.

The menu is Latin-inspired, and every dish I tried was thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor.

I started with the empanadas, and they were perfectly crisp on the outside with a flavorful, savory filling. For my main course, I couldn’t resist the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the chimichurri sauce.

Every bite felt indulgent but not overwhelming.

For sides, try the elote and the mac and cheese!

For dessert, we split the prickly pear cheesecake and a maple coconut flan. Outstanding.

The service was outstanding. My server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made some great recommendations when I couldn’t decide what to order. They also timed everything perfectly, so I never felt rushed, but I was never left waiting too long, either.

One thing I loved was how fresh and high-quality all the ingredients tasted. You could tell there was real attention to detail in both the preparation and presentation of every dish.

Dining at Mariposa was one of the highlights of my trip to Sedona. The combination of the exceptional food, world-class service, and jaw-dropping views made it an unforgettable experience.

It’s definitely on the pricier side, but it’s worth every penny for a special occasion or a memorable night out. If you’re in Sedona, I can’t recommend this place enough—you won’t regret it.

Tii Gavo

When I decided to have dinner at Tii Gavo, located at the Enchantment Resort, I was expecting something special—and it didn’t disappoint.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting and relaxed. The restaurant has a cozy yet elevated vibe, with warm, Southwestern-inspired decor and incredible views of Boynton Canyon through the large windows.

The menu had a creative mix of Southwestern flavors with a modern twist, and everything I tried was exceptional.

I started with the whipped ricotta, which was creamy, comforting, and full of flavor. We also split a peach and burrata salad. Burrata is a weakness.

For my main course, I went with the fish tacos—a recommendation from my server—and it was easily some of the best tacos I’ve ever had.

The fish was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful.

The service at Tii Gavo was another highlight. My server was friendly, attentive, and made great suggestions when I couldn’t decide what to order. They also gave me some fun insights about the local area, which added a nice personal touch to the evening.

What I loved most about dining at Tii Gavo was how well it balanced a casual, laid-back vibe with high-quality food and service. It didn’t feel stuffy or overly formal—just a perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal in a stunning setting.

If you’re staying at the Enchantment Resort or even just visiting Sedona, I highly recommend making time for dinner here.

Cress on Oak Creek

Having breakfast at Cress on Oak Creek was one of the most serene and memorable dining experiences of my trip to Sedona.

The setting alone is worth a visit. The restaurant is tucked away at the enchanting L’Auberge de Sedona, and the tables by Oak Creek offer a tranquil, almost dreamlike atmosphere.

I was lucky enough to be seated outside, just steps from the water, where the gentle sound of the creek and the dappled morning light created a peaceful start to the day.

The menu had a refined yet approachable selection of breakfast dishes, and everything I tried was exquisite.

I started with a cup of freshly brewed cappuccino that tasted rich and smooth—it paired perfectly with the crisp morning air.

For my meal, I ordered the chilaquiles, which turned out to be one of the best I’ve ever had. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, the side of avocado is a must and the pickled onions elevated the dish to a new place. The side of fruits were perfection and added a healthy touch.

The service was impeccable from start to finish. My server was attentive without being intrusive, making sure we never needed anything during our experience.

What made the experience even more special was how intimate and unhurried it felt. I took my time enjoying the food, sipping my coffee, and soaking in the beauty of the Creekside setting.

It felt like a little oasis, far removed from the busier parts of Sedona.

Che Ah Chi

I had breakfast at Che Ah Chi during my stay at Enchantment Resort, and it was such a fantastic way to start the day.

The restaurant’s location is unbeatable—set right in the middle of Boynton Canyon, with massive red rock cliffs surrounding you. The views from the large windows are absolutely breathtaking, even in the morning light.

I chose a table by the window, and I couldn’t stop staring at the scenery while sipping my coffee. The dining room has a clean, modern design that complements the natural beauty outside without distracting from it. It feels upscale but also very welcoming.

The breakfast menu was a perfect mix of classic dishes and creative options with a Southwestern twist.

We split a frittata and a breakfast burrito, which was elevated to another level with fresh ingredients like heirloom tomatoes, microgreens, and a perfect blend of seasonings.

The flavors were so fresh and vibrant, and the portion was just right—not too heavy, but still satisfying.

One thing worth noting, the fresh juices are amazing! Highly recommend any of them, especially the grapefruit juice.

What stood out to me most about breakfast at Che Ah Chi was how peaceful and rejuvenating the experience felt. It wasn’t just about the delicious food—it was about starting the day surrounded by Sedona’s natural beauty, with attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere.
