Often in life we find ourselves daydreaming off into space (or the interwebs) thinking about our favorite journey quotes. I know life gets overwhelming no matter what field you work in or what your living situation is. When I was younger journey quotes were what I always tied my future to.
One of my favorite journey quotes, “Life is a journey, not a destination” by Ralph Waldo Emerson has stuck with me through the years. I think when I was younger I always thought that ending up at a certain destination was when my life would actually start, but at 34 I have come to learn that life is about the journey. Everyone has a different journey, and it doesn’t always go the way we plan, but damn, life can be fascinating if we open ourselves up to it.
If you had told me 13 years ago when I moved to Washington, D.C. and had never attended a college class that I would be going to school for 10 years and then ended up a travel and food photographer/writer, I would have laughed. I mean, why me? Why would I go to school all those years to get my dream job that had zero to do with what I was studying? If I had known 13 years ago I would be penning a hopefully inspirational post about journey quotes today, I would have just read more and studied journalism and writing. Right? Because that seems most logical.
Whenever I am scrolling Pinterest or just looking at quotes online, I always gravitate towards journey quotes. We are all on a journey whether we want to admit it or not. Life is a journey. The good and the bad.
