This weekend my husband and I stayed at Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Northern Virginia. It was a nice escape away from the business of the city. We were able to play golf, get a couples massage, enjoy in-room dining after a long day, relax in our beautiful room, and see an amazing sunset!
We arrived early in the morning for a round of golf. Before setting off on our journey, we hit a few balls at the driving range.
Lansdowne has 2 courses to choose from, both equally challenging and beautiful. We played on the Robert Trent Jones, II course.
There were a lot of beautiful places along the course. I found this course to be one of the most visually pleasing places to play golf.
The room itself was very sleek with a touch of Virginia decor. It was everything you would expect from a modern room. Plush bedding, updated amenities, beautiful bathroom, a Keurig, and we even had great views of the golf course.

I captured this sunset from our bedroom!
We ended up ordering food from the in-room dining menu. We like to eat bed, what can I say?
And to no surprise of my own, discovered some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. I love BBQ so that says a lot! My husband also raved about how delicious it was. Definitely put it on your list of things to try if you visit.

After golfing, eating and relaxing in our room, we headed down to get a couples massage. I personally love massages. They are one of my favorite activities. My husband is still a newbie – but we both agreed after our 50 minute couples massage that it was the best we had ever received and would return every weekend if we could! Muscles I didn’t even know were sore became relieved. I walked out of there and felt like a brand new person!
After our massage we both retreated to the luxurious but separate locker rooms. Inside they have a steam room, sauna and even a hot tub. I couldn’t resist! I had it all to myself as well. It was the perfect end to a relaxing massage.

The rest of the hotel is beautifully decorated with plenty of space to lounge or hang out with friends. There are space that are wide open but maybe sectioned off by 1 wall to give different options for spaces and people to use them.
Relax by the fireplace with a book
Fireplace with more room to socialize – maybe play cards?
Overall we had a fantastic time with no complaints. We would definitely return, and do it all over again, exactly how we did it. This is the perfect weekend getaway if you live in the Washington, D.C. area or if you have an overnight layover from Dulles Airport (only 8 or so miles away).
My husband is still talking about the massage and food – so you could say he was overly impressed.. and believe me – he is hard to impress.
Let me know if you get a chance to visit – even a weekend getaway is perfect! You can wind down and relax.

I was hosted by Lansdowne Resort, but as always, opinions are my own.
This really does sound like the perfect weekend. And I love BBQ too!
