Quirk Hotel, voted by Travel + Leisure as the #3 place to travel in 2016, definitely deserves this accolade. This was my first experience in a hotel like this. It has this artsy retro glam vibe going on with a mix of luxury. When I was deciding how to describe this hotel, I was sitting in the lobby people watching, and it hit me – this hotel appeals to everyone. I watched people from all walks of life come through the door, from artists, business men, families, young women, single men, and so on. There is something here for everyone, just look around and the hotel will make you smile.
The lobby area is adorned with colorful couches, robots, a cute little cafe, Maple and Pine Restaurant, and is a segue to: rooms, the Quirk Gallery, courtyard, and shop.
Quirk Gallery & Shop:
The hotel showcases work from different artists in their gallery on both the top and bottom floor. The art is unique and fits the vibe of the hotel. From photos, to ceramics – it is all carefully selected.
The gift shop also fits the theme of the hotel. I had to refrain from buying from everything. I found a lot of pieces with donuts on them and things about pizza. That is the easiest way to my heart. <3
Back in the lobby there is this cafe that I enjoyed a delicious cappuccino at. They also offer other drinks and have pink coffee cups for those taking away.
Courtyard:
This place would be perfect to enjoy lunch or even a beverage. When I arrived yesterday it is a little cold and rainy. So I did not get to enjoy the courtyard.
The Room:
The hallway: I love, love, LOVE all the pink accents.
I had a king room – and WOW! I was impressed by the minimal but luxury retro decor. The space is big but minimalist. There was a big work space, tall windows with great light, the bed was comfortable, a flat screen TV hung on the wall (how modern!), an armoire instead of a closet, gorgeous bathroom, and the minibar was perfection.
Pints instead of shots? Yes please!
The Restaurant:
I didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant, but look at the amazing decor!
Overall:
Loved the hotel. I wish I had more time here. This will definitely become my place of choice when I stay in Richmond. You really can’t go wrong with this hotel. It’s incredibly interesting and sure to put a smile on your face.
If I wasn’t already married – I would rent out the entire hotel for a wedding and reception weekend. I would not be surprised if this hotel becomes a new destination wedding venue, at least it should be.
A big thank you to Quirk Hotel for hosting me as their guest. As always, opinions are my own.
