Eating Through Dublin

Foodies Guide

I’ll just cut right to the chase. I love food! Even more I love trying new things! Part of the reason I love to travel so much is being able to try what the locals eat. Sometimes I am cliche .. but hey, I do what I want.

O’Connell’s

So maybe this was cliche of me to go here, the famous O’Connell’s in Dublin.. and then order fish and chips with a Guinness. But you know what they say, “When in Ireland ..” And here I am! It was delicious in every way.

T.PSmiths

Funny story .. I found this place simply by sniffing out the bacon on the streets … ahh the smell of bacon is everywhere in Dublin. When I got to T.PSmith’s I could smell the delicious treat .. so I ordered a soup and sandwich. I went with a creamy vegetable soup and a cheese, bacon sandwich on garlic toast. My taste buds were in heaven!

Christoph’s

This restaurant is located directly across from the Jameson distillery. I stopped in here for a quick bite before my tour. I ended up with a smorgasbord of foods.. Including BACON. The americano is strong here, perfection in every way. The dutch apple cake was delicious with the cream.

Arlington Hotel

This stop was merely convenience as I was just staying right around the corner. It certainly was a delicious convenience though! I walked into the Arlington Hotel Restaurant and saw they had a special of pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, and veggies. The special also included a glass of Prosecco. It was really good and gave me that feeling of home. Where mom makes you a fantastic meal.

The Sugar Loaf Bakery

I stopped in here right before my rail tour. They are located inside the Heuston Station in Dublin.

So many options and so little time! At 6:30am I went a non traditional breakfast route for myself and  purchased a sandwich that was toasted with ham and cheese on the inside AND cream cheese on top with melted cheese.

Irish Breakfast

A full Irish breakfast can be found just about anywhere that serves breakfast. Do not skip out on the bacon. I may be obsessed with bacon, but Irish bacon is the best in the world. I enjoyed many chats with the locals about the bacon and they are just as obsessed as I am. <3

Sweet Republic

This is not an Irish foodie tradition. This is an I LOVE SWEETS GALORE! I simply could not help myself but to stop in TWICE! I have no shame in the fact that their desserts are magnificent and the presentation was also incredible.
The first time I stopped in I had a Reese’s Milkshake that also had a donut on top, peanut butter, nuts, whipped cream, and everything but the kitchen sink!

The second time I stopped in I had planned to try something entirely different. I had just spent the whole day talking about this place to all the people I met. Then I realized World Nutella Day was the following day – so I opted to get a similar shake made of Nutella, my favorite. They were both amazing! If you love sweets, this is the place in Dublin to fill that need. Sweet Republic will not disappoint.

As you probably noticed, there is a lot of bacon in the foods that I ate while in Ireland. That is not coincidental. My love for bacon is unconditional.
