I feel like if I say “I love Mexico” it would be an understatement. This is the most visited country on my passport. I’ve been to Cozumel twice, Cancun for spring break, Cabo san Lucas, Riviera Maya, and Playa del Carmen. It is safe to say I have a love affair with Mexico ❤
This post is about my trip to Playa del Carmen though. My husband has been to Mexico twice. The first time I took him a few years ago for his birthday and we went to Cabo. He hated it. Swore he would never go back in a million years. Fast forward a couple years and I read about a new resort opening in Cancun. I figured the resort chain had great reviews and he would love that it was brand new. Less than 24 hours before we were to leave he was reading horrible reviews online about the place that had only been open for a couple weeks and was refusing to go, insisting I find another hotel. Luckily I had purchased trip insurance! I called Travelocity and selected a hotel that I had read about online with great reviews and it ended up being cheaper.
We are off on our way! The views from a window seat on the plane are spectacular flying in over the country.
We land in Cancun, wait for our shuttle to the resort 45 minutes away, and then we arrive.
So I ended up booking us just a standard room at the Royal Playa del Carmen – and when we got there we were upgraded to an ocean view swim out room, which was conveniently located next to the swim-up bar. 🙂 It was so nice to just wake up and swim over to the bar. This room was perfect in every way from cleanliness, modern amenities, room service availability, alcohol, and the best shower.
The weather was perfect everyday! September can be tricky because of hurricane season but it was perfect!
The resort grounds were pristine, the food was incredible, the sunrise and sunsets were out of this world, the staff was hands down the best, and my now husband LOVED IT!
Needless to say, he now loves Mexico and would return at anytime ❤ 🙂
Added bonus: this resort is all-inclusive and they leave full bottles of liquor in your room. You could say I maybe had some fun.
Until next time, Mexico
